In politics, perception is king and realism takes a back seat to impressionism.
It may be that Jacqui Smith and Tom Watson are resigning their ministerial portfolios for personal, rather than political reasons. But given the much trailed reshuffle it gives the impression of panic and scurrying.
In the midst of economic turbulence both inside and outside of the Houses of Parliament, this is a disaster.
