In search of a Speaker

Let us asumme that the furore surrounding Michael Martin results in his resignation. Who would replace him?

Sir Menzies Campbell seemed to be in the running. Likeable, untainted, principled. However his expenses confession on Question Time last night probably excludes him from the list of likely candidates.

So who should be the next Speaker of the "Mother of all Parliaments"?
